Wipecat #13 – dreams come, dreams go

Back together again !
Must tell you it’s the first podcast since november of 2010. It’s a pity, but here’s the compensation for long silence. After 6 months I’m proudly presenting you wipecast #13 called “dreams come, dreams go”
The podcast hasn’t been named occasionally: its subtitle signifies my interest to dreampop music and its modern varieties. Almost all these artists are from New World, and it’s the likes of Warm Ghost, Balam Acab, Cortney Tidwell and Atlas Sound. Their music is often tagged as “chillwave”, “cold wave” or “witch house” (the last term has nothing to do with house music familiar to us). However, in the mix you can find a wide range of electronic music from future garage of Floating Points and Pariah to our fellow countrymen EU (Ёлочные Игрушки) and much talked-of british band The xx with their oh so simple but pleasant melodies. An interesting and even surprising interpretation of Caribou‘s “Sun” is given by a young artist called Altrice who has reworked all the tracks from the “Swim” LP and has issued them all in his own album “Stem”.
We could not pass by the new full-lenght album from UK’s White Lies, majestic synth-pop delivered by Brooklyn-based Light Asylum duo, and honeysweet “hypnagogic pop” by Ariel Pink and Toro y Moi (once again, US guys). We hope you won’t overlook these almost radio-friendly hip-hop takes made by Fake Four Records artists Ron Contour and Deadpan Darling, blues-alike passages of Fin Greenall (known as Fink as well as Sideshow) and Damon Aaron music’s superfine tissue. This is his lullaby tune we decided to be last in the mix (for the second time !)
Thanx for support !

Снова вместе, снова рядом !
Последний записанный мной выпуск вайпкаста под номером 11 датирован 11 ноября минувшего года. 6 месяцев спустя я готов представить на Ваш суд wipecast #13 с подзаголовком "dreams come, dreams go" ...

Wipecast # 12 Special – Ideal Moment

Hello to everyone, today we have probably the most long-awaited special issue.
I guess in our music tastes we’ve all moved away from the academic sounding, but still professional and gifted composers move classic school to the future and make it adsorb the spirit of now and give us fresh swirls of melodies and moods.
It’s more than six months ago that the idea of creating a modern classics compilation has been born, and among our friends a man was found who doesn’t only listen to such music, but also collects it on vinyl.
Even if you’re not into academic music you will surely feel the modernism’s breath all over the compilation.
Classic music gives us lessons of harmony and the sense of melody, and considering our total estrangement from the beautiful in favour of the mass and pop culture such compilations play a part of aesthetic presents.
The only thing that’s left is to wish you an enjoyable listening, at least for your cultural benefication and the extension of your perception.
I recommend to listen to the issue at the very least two times, just because during the second listening the music’s effect increases, and after the third listening the mix tends to live in your mp3-player for a long time.

Wipecast # 10 Special – “I Shoegazer”

Special Issue – “I Shoegazer”

a dreampop/shoegaze/space-rock/post-rock/etherial muzik podkast

The newest and the freshest wipecast is now available to you and it is really a special issue. While all the previous wipecasts were never dedicated to a particular genre of music (’cause it’s been always mashed up), this very podcast is quite what you think seeing its title. Today we play shoegaze and dreampop – beautiful, deeply emotional music with a specific sound. These genres had such a rough destiny, there were times when nobody seemed to take care about them, but still we see now, in modern times, a kind of their revival. In our special issue you can find the genre’s milestones as well as new collectives (sometimes called “new-gazers”). Even if you hear the word “shoegaze” for the first time, this doesn’t make sense – having listened to this wipecast you’ll get acquainted to the scene, so welcome to the trip !!

Wipecast #9

For me, it is not an ordinary volume of wipecast series, it’s a little celebration, just because wipecasing is one year old. It means that already for one year we’ve been listening to excellent and strictly selected folk, indie, soul, dubby and trip-hop tunes mixed altogether in a form of podcast.
Different epochs, different genres – what remained anyway (and still remains!) is material’s level. Even if it is commercial, it is not a consumers’ stuff – our music is quality music.
Wipecasts are being made under the veil of the night, tracks are selected all day long in the record stores and internet forums.
Thanx to bassbin.ru for some missing elements in this puzzle that I was glad to find in your store. Greetz to all the listeners who have heard at least one wipecast !!
Also greetz to all the podcastes, musicians and deejays all over the world, cause they’ve been doing all their best !!
