Wipecat #13 – dreams come, dreams go

- Back together again !
Must tell you it’s the first podcast since november of 2010. It’s a pity, but here’s the compensation for long silence. After 6 months I’m proudly presenting you wipecast #13 called “dreams come, dreams go” …
The podcast hasn’t been named occasionally: its subtitle signifies my interest to dreampop music and its modern varieties. Almost all these artists are from New World, and it’s the likes of Warm Ghost, Balam Acab, Cortney Tidwell and Atlas Sound. Their music is often tagged as “chillwave“, “cold wave” or “witch house” (the latter term has nothing to do with house music familiar to us). However, in the mix you can find a wide range of electronic music from future garage of Floating Points and Pariah to our fellow countrymen EU (Ёлочные Игрушки) and much talked-of british band The xx with their oh so simple but pleasant melodies. An interesting and even surprising interpretation of Caribou‘s “Sun” is given by a young artist called Altrice who has reworked all the tracks from the “Swim” LP and has issued them all in his own album “Stem”.
We could not pass by the new full-lenght album from UK’s White Lies, majestic synth-pop delivered by Brooklyn-based Light Asylum duo, and honeysweet “hypnagogic pop” by Ariel Pink and Toro y Moi (once again, US guys). We hope you won’t overlook these almost radio-friendly hip-hop takes made by Fake Four Records artists Ron Contour and Deadpan Darling, blues-alike passages of Fin Greenall (known as Fink as well as Sideshow) and Damon Aaron music’s superfine tissue. This is his lullaby tune we decided to be last in the mix (for the second time !)
Thanx for support !
6 месяцев спустя я готов представить на Ваш суд wipecast #13 с подзаголовком "dreams come, dreams go" ...
Wipecast #7
Eng / RuGreat 2 know you have good music in your collection that you can select and mix like you want to ! Here it is – the brand new volume of wipecast series dedicated to May holidays and to the final arrival of spring 2010.
Wide range of music mixed in 77-minute podcast – from folk, indie and perfect pop to soul and even modern classic. Some part of the mix is up to french touch and post-daft punk electronic scene – today it’s Anoraak, Shazam & the most incredible french band – Cassius. Nice and pretty Finland-based Husky Rescue come to help us in the case of the lack of good folkie music, my favourite folktronica greats from Florida – Electric President – are also here with a really beatiful tune. Another likes you should listen to carefully are the likes of Why?, Foals and Alex Cornell (who’s that??) singing Empire Of The Sun’s Walking On A Dream. Cover songs ain’t just a word here – almost in every wipecast you can esaily find a couple of interesting interpretations of famous tracks. In a jazz wave we found old stuff from great minimalist-composer Steve Reich and really funny piece from contemporary jazz musicians from Finland (you’ll read their names yourselves if you want to:). Soulful hip-hop from Ubiquity Records artist Damon Aaron as the last tune covers it all. Enjoy the atmosphere and be waiting for the new volume !!
